Our story

Head-quartered in Chicago, with employees around the world, Halo was co-founded by Biju Kulathakal and Jason Barsema in 2015. With over 40 global banking and insurance partners, and customers on four continents, Halo has created the first marketplace for connecting the buy and sell-side of protective investments. Halo’s early business model was focused on the idea of a flexible exchange options platform. In fact, Halo helped launch the first exchange-traded binary options in partnership with the New York Stock Exchange.

The need soon emerged for investors to have another option as middleground between stocks and bonds—Structured Notes. Banks, the main issuers of Structured Notes, also had difficulty serving more clients because of the highly manual time consuming process that was involved. As a result, the Structured Notes platform was born.
